I grew up pretty rural, the school I went to as affiliated with a large dairy farm, my family had goats, sheep, and ducks, the latter two we ate. I enjoy meat. But I have had some ethical qualms about the impacts of meat on the broader world, and Sonoma County's Measure J has brought up a lot of issues about local factory farming.
